#15 - Bizarro

Me am #15.

Bizarro entered this campaign with all of the pomp and circumstance deserving of an icon, an institution. As part of a triumvirate of Trinity-alikes including Batwoman and Wonder Woman Robot, Bizarro is to the planet Htrae what Superman is to planet Earth. In fact, it appears to be that Bizarro is less the menace that his reputation would suggest without the trappings of the Man of Steel nearby. Often easily influenced by the "strong" logic of the party members, Bizarro, who is a rather gentle soul, can be duped or manipulated to carry out all manner of sins, including helping to take down the cosmically powerful and nearly immortal Auctioneer. After being discovered held on ice for the purposes of collection and private enjoyment, it seemed only fair, after all, for Bizarro to get some measure of revenge for being penned up like a zoo animal.

As space ramps up, it has become clear that the War of Light and the Rann-Thanagar War require heavier hitters than the party may ever hope to be. What I've found somewhere between tragic and alarming is how little compassion the party has for Bizarro. The fellow certainly labors and toils hard to earn the title of simpleton. Yet, there's a level of kindness that is understated beneath the dumb oaf's bravado. A prime example is just how thrilled he was to witness the return of Riev to the Rannian fleet. Bizarro, whose life had been saved once before by the taciturn merc, instantly raced for Riev, trapping him in a tight hug, still grateful after all of those years for Riev's efforts. But sadly, Riev seemed to spurn the bizarre brute. Similarly, Pepper wasn't particularly thrilled to hear that Bizarro had raced her up to the Ranagar Prime for the purposes of helping with her injuries - and Saoirse seemed dismissive of Bizarro as well in conversation.

What a tragic turn for a loveable, sweet being who seeks only to return to his homeworld and rescue his friends and family, trapped beneath a Grid. And yes, as it turns out, there appears to be a second (albeit not Green Lantern-spawned) Grid out there in the universe, somewhere around a planet called Htrae, where statues of Riev stand tall in remembrance of his accomplishments. Not that he cares - the grump.

Hint: The daughter of a supervillain.
