I am just going to say, I think Joel was right to do what he did.
First of all, yes, the existence of a cure would be overall beneficial to humanity. It sucks it won't get made (yet).
But should the Fireflies be responsible for it and control who gets it? No.
The Fireflies are essentially a terrorist group. They aren't good people. They bomb places and kill innocents. The cure in their hands would only give them power, and you can bet they would be selective as to who would actually get it.
And they were being so fucking shady. They didn't give Joel or Ellie a choice, they were just going to kill her and forced Joel to leave at gunpoint. It would have been much different had they talked to Ellie and she made her own choice and was given the chance to say goodbye to Joel. They forced the situation.
It's a very gray area. But I think Joel was right to do as he did. Fuck the Fireflies.
They didnt know they had to kill her for the cure until they got there. They needed a cat scan/mri to visually see the damn thing in her brain.
