I didn't just get this for free on Steam but I finally played it because I saw it being free. At first I wasn't thrilled to see what appeared to be stray whimsy wrapped around less-than-tight puzzle and combat design. Eventually though, the jaded mind warrior Rusty and intensely chipper bird Piper grew on me as they had their buddy cop arc and banished personified fears from their host. And what fears! The leader in particular charmed me with his lines, voice acting and catchy music. The puzzles also improved, not doing anything all that unique for the genre but escalating steadily in complexity. I now am interested in the sequel, although I could do without an ad shouting at me about it whenever I quit the game.
