I agree that being straight up transgender would have been better but a) it was 2013 so they'd have probably fucked that up too lmao and b) it's still super super easy to read Robin as genderfluid because they still use the "male" personality pretty often after the reveal. If they fully switched to just girl mode after the reveal I wouldn't like the character at all.
