I was one of those 3. It was the last Nintendo console I'll ever buy.
This. Not because I felt let down by the Wii U itself; I thought it was a good console, all things considered.

They lost me as a customer because they basically gave up on the Wii U right after I bought it. They dumbed down the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild by removing all second-screen functionality. They didn't want the Switch version to have any downside, so they got rid of any advantage and versatility that might have come from the Wii U.

That alone was enough to annoy me, but they basically dropped the Wii U like a fucking rock the second the Switch was announced. Look at companies like Sony and Microsoft.

Hogwarts Legacy, for example, is coming out on the PS4 and XB1 even though the PS5 and Series X/S came out two years ago. The Wii U didn't even get a pity port of Mario Odyssey.

Wii U didn't get any kind of support. They shut down the servers for stuff like the Miiverse fairly shortly after the Switch launched, which made my console feel all the more useless.

The games I did play on the Wii U were pretty fun. Tropical Freeze is a great game, Mario Maker fucking ruled, Smash 4 was awesome...Breath of the Wild was very flawed, and it was marred by the intentional reduction of functionality, but I still had fun with it.

I just wish it lasted a bit longer before Nintendo gave up and pretended it never happened. As a paying customer I felt irrelevant.
