Like... let's not let Republicans take over the conversation about this crime bill by acting like signing this bill is being 'tough on crime' cause it's not. It's undermining the authority of DC, and this is why Democrats lose in the end. They always let Republicans control the narrative. This doesn't lower the penalty for carjackings. It's lowers the maximum. The maximum is currently 40 years for carjacking, for example. Almost NOBODY gets 40 years for carjacking. The new maximum would be 24 years, which is still a LONG time.
