She was neither the only Republican nor the one most likely to win. Her district is an extremely safe Republican seat, meaning that whoever won the primary was a shoe-in for election. She didn't take the seat uncontested, the Republicans took a look at who was on offer in the primary, pointed to MTG and said, "Yep, that one. That's the best we've got!"
