oh i had a lot of fun watching Ranking of Kings, the writing kinda fell apart near the end, but it had a lot of likeable characters and the art style was unique (in a good way). I think there's a mini sequel coming up in April or something: https://osama-ranking-treasurechest.com/

The only one I like that might fall under that umbrella is Nichijou. The art style is cute, but the girls aren't written in a way that feels like they're trying too hard to be cutesy i guess? They are just dumb kids doing dumb stuff and i like that. Definitely took inspiration from Azumanga Daioh, but I prefer Nichijou more

I think those 3 shows are often seen as classics, but it doesn't feel like they are "mainstream" anymore, at least with the younger crowd

I recently revisited azumanga daioh after watching it subbed like 15 yrs ago, Osaka's english voice is actually so good lol i love it
