Maybe you have noticed when someone coughs obnoxiously loud and at an improper time. They seem to not care at all about diminishing their ridiculously obvious and blatantly rude behavior. People cough from time to time, but most people try to cover their mouths or otherwise do something to control themselves. Maybe you are listening to music and right at the end of the piece, someone coughs in the most obnoxious way possible. Maybe you are having a moment of peace and quiet, like in a park or at an outdoor cafe and someone coughs like they just ripped a fat dab and they do nothing about it.

This is a form of gaslighting. You may know people who just seem to cough all the time for no reason and every time they do it is as if they are actually trying to cough just to make noise. Well, you would be correct to assume they are faking their cough just to try to be annoying. Chronic fake coughing is a tactic that bad actors use to try to annoy people who are not parasitic sociopaths like them.

Next time you notice someone coughing at just the wrong time, or chronically coughing around you all the time and making absolutely no attempt to reduce their grossly repulsive behavior, remember, they are probably trying to cause mental anguish to you or others around them.

I just wanted to share this tactic with you. And now you are aware.
