If we're being real, emos are dark and may not kare about stuff you expect normal people to kare about, but the fact remains that they have a lot of kare and emotion. Meanwhile, Squall legit does not give a fuck.

I mean.. the game doesn't do it well but it touches on how scared Squall is to rely on people. He's pretty much written to have BPD as a result of losing his family.

Maybe in the beginning but he eventually does develop as a character. Yet people like to act like dude is a hopeless douchebag when he's a 17 year old dude who was abandoned by his family, bullied by Seifer constantly and raised by some weird ass military academy.

Hell, he even admits later on that he actually cares a lot of what people think of him. When Seifer is reported "dead" he has a nightmare or weird self conversation about what people will think of him when he dies and has an emotional outburst
