More Final Fantasy 14 ARR

I finished Patch 2.3 (Defenders of Eorzea) and from what I understand this is the end of the ARR endgame, and from here we I'm at the prologue to Heavensward.

So here's my question for the people that have played this game:

Is this where the game truly starts to get really really great, or will that not be until I actually reach the 3.0 quest Coming to Ishgard?

2.4 and 2.5 has some good parts and some ARR luggage. Like SE would have to go back and completely redo all of ARR, not just trim a few quests, to refine the current generic slog, but these patches do give us some good moments and a few important details moving forward. Not to spoil, but this prologue period does end in the first of many damned good moments that define XIV's story.

Like imagine if most of The Hobbit was written like a drunken college thesis rather than how it is now, but then the writer sobered up and got his groove during the Smaug and climactic battle parts, and then you're thrown straight into LotR after. I guess Stormblood is the Tom Bombadil of XIV's story? Anyways, the point I'm making is that you'll see how the writers of FFXIV finally figured out what they want to do with ARR's story and the first expansion story, and when those story elements come, they mostly shine.

Mostly. Because two important details are lost in the English translation: Haurchefant's personality (especially toward you the WoL), and a certain dragon's reasoning behind what it does in 2.5 (I will spoil no further). Once you see the 2.5 credits, I recommend looking those parts up.
