Worth noting is that though the album is called She's So Unusual, there really isn't much "unusual" about this (it's standard 80s fare) or about Lauper herself by modern standards - but her eccentricities were foundational, pushing the envelope in the direction that would later give us the likes of Lady Gaga and P!nk, among many others.
I generally agree with this - certainly, I'd say its music tends to fit firmly within a specific mainstream mold, though distinguished by Lauper's voice. However, I do think the lyrics of many of these songs went hand-in-hand with Lauper's persona to cement her solo debut as, indeed, so unusual relative to what was radio-friendly in 1983.
