Show: Gravity Falls
Original airdate: August 4, 2014

"Dude, don't be itchy man."

Another confession: I still ship Wendip despite the 2 1/2 year age gap between them, so even though Wendy did turn Dipper down in this episode, I still loved the sweet dialogue between them, and of course, all the funny and scary moments that come in a typical great Gravity Falls episode. The episode revolves around the group (Dipper, Mabel, Wendy, and Soos) descending into a creepy hidden bunker in search of more secrets about Gravity Falls, particularly a lead on the author of Journal 3. As they descend, they encounter increasingly creepy and strange things, notably a shapeshifting monster who ends up taking Wendy's form, leading to misunderstandings, an accidental crush confession, and finally, an epic struggle between Wendy and, well, Wendy, or at the very least, the shapeshifter now disguised as her. I loved all the horror moments in the episode, particularly the shapeshifter taking on Dipper's form in its final moments (and Soos' hilarious remark), but my favorite stuff was of course between Dipper and Wendy, and yeah, even though Wendy turned Dipper down (maybe he can try again in college?), their friendship was maintained in a super sweet manner, with Wendy showing that she's not only a badass, but a really sweet girl too. All in all, Into The Bunker is probably my favorite Gravity Falls episode, even though it's not as climactic and dramatic as Weirdmageddon. It still has so much to love, plenty of character based humor and moments, and lots of disturbing stuff too, while still advancing the plot in small but meaningful ways.
