October Mermaid is one of my personal favorites from my favorite Mitsuda soundtrack, which is saying a lot. Fantastic melody, instrumentation, and development. Absolutely brutal matchup here, but October Mermaid gets the advantage for me. The Scions' Dance in Purgatory is pretty cool with the vocals and harpsichord. I do think it's a bit too all-over-the-place for it to be really good though. I like how Blue Desert Hotel uses an oboe as the primary instrument, which isn't a super common thing. The hand percussion and piano are really nice as well. Very lovely composition, and it will easily get my vote here. Cuckoo is probably my favorite Balan Wonderworld song I've heard. Really good instrumentation, vocals, and the Arabic feel is great. I like the especially pan flute elements. Great song. Saint, Sleep Peacefully is pretty good too, though marginally weaker than its opponent. Vocals are a bit too shrill for me to appreciate them. Good intense mood-setter. Very good day today.
