My initial frustration was when
rex just gave up as if that was even an option. Like, if you give up at that point, you die, you realize that right? Like, I understand the story beat they were going for, but it was unnecessary and they got there in a way that kind of ruined the character. After that it's mostly ok until the very end where they try to shoehorn in a reason to sacrifice important characters and Rex reasonably doesn't like it but gets stopped by like a 20 foot gap somehow (and I think he still has their core crystal anyway). And as if the sane writer walked back in the room too late, they almost immediately undo that stupid sacrifice and they are actually fine magically. I don't know why xenoblade story wants me to be punished for beating the game but they try this shit in every single one. I won, let me actually win dammit. Granted, the ending of 3 was far and away the worst in the series but 2s was still pretty bad.
