https://www.cbsnews.com/news/i-bond-demand-crashes-treasury-website-ahead-of-9-6-rate-deadline/

With the deadline fast approaching, the Treasury Department is opening more I-bond accounts each day than it typically creates in a year, according to an agency official.

After 15 years of oppression by the Federal Reserve, we're finally seeing a return to normalcy. Interest rates are back, and the I Bond is paying an actually good rate.
If you can get your I Bond order processed by Oct 31 (which means purchasing it by today, to be sure it's processed by then), you lock in a 9.62% rate for the first 6 months, and then the next 6 would be roughly 6.5%. Won't know till May what the rate is after that. If you miss the Oct 31 deadline, you miss out on the 9.62% rate.
Needless to say, the Treasury website is getting massively swamped, lol
I got my order in late last night, even well past midnight the site was crashing on me, but nowhere near as bad as during the day.
If you want in and haven't already, well... good luck.
