It isn't though. The current use of fossil fuels and a capitalist economy has worsened outcomes for the vast majority of people through reduction in air quality, more frequent and more severe weather events, lesser access to clean water and food, etc. A shift to predominantly nuclear energy along with a more efficient and equitable economy would raise the living standard for millions of people by helping to avert the worst consequences of climate change.

Any assertion that the general public are the ones responsible for this burden is just a result of propaganda meant to protect fossil fuel execs and their beneficiaries from facing public scrutiny
