rwlh 09/09/22 6:43:44 PM #1:	For the past 16 years, Board 8 has held its annual Video Game Music Contest, or VGMC for short. Thousands of songs have been nominated over the years, and every year theres been a different winner thats taken home the crown. (It helps that the rules prevent repeat winners.) The sixteenth VGMC just ended, with, yep, a new champ. So what better way to celebrate than by looking back at every champion so far and because this community is obsessed with ranking things, why not rank all 16 champs? This ranking is open to anyone. Even if youve never clicked on a VGMC topic. Even if you never listen to video game music outside of whatever game youre currently playing. If you like music and you like ranking things, you are welcome in this topic. You dont even need a GameFAQs account VGMC has a lot of voters from other VGM communities, so if youre one of those folks and you want to participate in this ranking but dont have an account, thats totally fine. Ive got you covered. The rules of the road are: Listen to all 16 songs. There are timestamps provided for songs that loop, so you can hop out of a song if its past the loop point. Otherwise please listen in full. Submit a ranking of all 16 champions, with number 1 being the one you liked the most and 16 being the one you liked the least. No ties. Rank based on how much you like each song and not any other factors like how much the song deserves to be a champion or how much you like the game or anything like that. Optional: you can submit writeups for each of the songs if you want. These writeups will be unveiled along with the final rankings. You dont have to do this, but if other Board 8 ranking projects are any indication, a big part of the fun is reading everyones thoughts. I ask, if you do writeups, that you please be kind. Youre probably not going to like all 16 champs, but nobody appreciates overt negativity. Weve tried to make the VGMC community very welcoming and that extends to this ranking. The deadline for submitting a ranking is three weeks from now: Friday September 30, at 6pm Eastern. You can either message me on Discord, PM me on GameFAQs, or even post in the topic (though that will spoil the surprise!). Please spread the word! My goal is to get as many people listening and ranking as possible. I hope this trip through the history of this massive celebration of video game music will provide you with some great tunes to listen to.
