At first I had a giggle, then upon seeing the lady hit I stopped and felt bad for her. Having said that I now cannot shake the feeling that the whole thing is a set up. My reasoning is based primarily on the camera angles.

The initial and final camera angles do not make sense to me. Why would they have a camera at the top of the escalator to capture the backs of people going down? If they were to have a camera at the top surely it would be positioned to capture peoples faces.

Also the final camera angle doesn't make any sense either, other than to capture an event such as it did. Why would they have a camera zoomed in to capture people exiting the escalator, especially taking into account the camera positioned on the whole escalator which to me makes more sense if it were in an airport or shopping centre.

I think the whole thing is a set up, whether for a comedy skit, a tv show or movie, or just as a prank.

Edit: Another reason I think it's a set up is why does the guy wait after putting the first suitcase on the escalator before putting the second one on if he thought it was a conveyor belt? He waits holding the blue suitcase for a good couple of seconds before the first suitcase topples down the escalator.
I don't think he thought it was a conveyor belt, just that it wasn't going to fall.

Probably doesn't realize escalator stairs are not right angles and the steps protrude on each other which pushed the suitcase off.
