NTSC updates the screen 60 times per second while PAL updates 50 times per second. Used in gaming, you want to get 60/50 or 30/25 FPS to get a lagfree experience. Most games were running at 60/50 FPS before they went 3D. There are also games that doesnt run at 60/30/50/25 FPS which made them lag/desync. Then there is PAL-M, popular in Brazil, that was basically NTSC with PAL color encoding. There is also PAL-60 that alows PAL to run in 60 Hz. The French used SECAM, which is basically PAL that handles the color different. --- GameFAQs isn't going to be merged in with GameSpot or any other site.
