Mangos are in the family Anacardiaceae, which includes cashews, pistachios, Chinese lacquer, pink peppercorn, and most notably, poison ivy and poison oak. Allergy to any of these often results in cross sensitivity with related species. If you've ever gotten a rash from poison ivy you have a high risk of contact dermatitis from handling unpeeled mangos, and if you're allergic to tree nuts you probably shouldn't eat even peeled mangos.

interesting, cuz I don't like the flavour of cashews and pistachios either

maybe it's just a genetic thingy
