#39 Overcooked!

I have massive respect to anyone who can design a super exciting action game, that has NO COMBAT. I wish we were on a timeline where all games were like this, instead of all being about combat (as much as I do love combat!!!).

But the brilliant level design is what makes it get this high on the list.

They didn't need to try so hard with the level design. They *could* just mess with the balance each level, put a minor snag sometimes, an interesting chokepoint, an interesting recipe... And indeed, there are some levels with just these things, and they're 100% excellent.

BUT many of the levels are just hilarious. Any level on a shipdeck, where parts of the kitchen slide across to the screen, cracks me up. Any level where players screw up and get stranded with half-prepared ingredients in their hand? Can't get enough.

The level where you're in 3 kitchens, that are inside 3 separate trucks, that are moving at full speed on a highway!! PRICELESS.

BEST LEVEL: The one in the screenshot, a kitchen divided by a crowded crosswalk. There's just something slapstick but profoundly relatable about slow strangers getting in your way in a crosswalk.

(Warning: Take this ranking with a grain of salt, because I played this game with friends and family, which is always a blast, even with a bad game.)
