You should try Resident Evil VIIIage! It's basically the same thing, but first person, and newer. Same vibes, similar action.

#42 Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

This is the Castlevania I'd recommend first, to newcomers to the series.

This game has the least frilly features of the metroidvania Castlevania games--it gets straight to the main point of the GBA/DS castlevania games: to find and equip LOTS OF WEAPONS, NONSTOP. Including, probably one of my top 10 video game weapons, the mildly hidden Claimh Solais sword. It's so overpowered.

The many melee weapons are great of course, but the brand new "soul" collectible magic system, is one of the best systems in any video game. Whatever that means. It's like Kirby but an Action RPG. OK, it's quantity over quality...but quantity can be really fun!

Meanwhile, it's got a nice big castle, that's simple and easy to explore, and it all fits on one grid-based screen, which is great. And there's nothing annoying about traversing it, which is pretty rare for metroidvanias IMO. It's a very BREEZY, easy, short game, which I appreciate. The Claimh Solais really gives you a second wind of breeziness in the back section of the game.

BEST LEVEL: The "Clock Tower" level, is especially good here. It's the usual challenging combo of moving platforms, spikes, and random flying enemies so that you can't stand still even for a second. But this time the rooms are very big, and you're not sure which direction is forward.
