Premise: Retsuko, a red panda, works a soul-crushing office job with various other animals. Whenever her emotions threaten to boil over, she goes to sing death metal at karaoke.

The Good: I've only watched the first season of Aggretsuko. I was genuinely shocked when I looked it up for this and saw it now has four seasons. Clearly it's very popular, and in some ways I can see why! Aggretsuko uses a Hello Kitty art style that's inherently charming. The animal people all have good designs that make even generic characters stand out, and theres some good office-job jokes. Fenneko was my favorite character, I liked her monotone humor.

The Bad: I remember a lot of people really loved Aggretsuko, but I was mostly ambivalent on it. As good as some of the jokes were, it still wasnt much fun watching a character work a soul-crushing office job. That's the kind of thing I watch fiction to get away from. Retsuko herself was also kind of boring, so the actual storylines of the first season all fell flat for me. Resasuke sucked.

Overall: I didnt hate Aggretsuko, but nothing about it resonated with me except for a few moments with Fenneko. The art style helped make it a little bit charming. Still, I mostly just found this anime boring. Im also not a fan of death metal at all, so those sequences with Retsuko at karaoke were always grating.
