People are cooped up an enclosed space all day sitting at their desks being bored as fuck. So they talk, waaay more than you get the chance to do so in most other work environments. That talk turns to way faster familiarity/comfort-ability, which leads to cliques, which inevitably leads to black sheep getting the cold shoulder in way more obvious and passive aggressive ways than in other environments.
