But the site's become such shit lately that I wasn't overly motivated to fight it anyway. Easier to just stop logging in or posting entirely. Didn't have a ton of motivation to keep logging in even before it happened.

To be fair, they often don't bother reading the posts, just the comment left by the person who marked the post. The moderation system is mostly used for harassment rather than any legitimate use, which is why they don't moderate most death threats.
