Somehow WotC fucked up... these events were for new players that didn't have competitive decks and they gave away a lot of free rares and such. Now they are for very serious players and are in fact better for advancement than climbing the ladder. You'd think they could have old school events for new players and a separate group of events for people trying to be pros, but no.
