Im sure theres many cases of art that comes to symbolize or represent various other things then what it was originally intended for. As long as a person isn't outright denying the historical reason of the artwork I don't know if thats cultural appopriation but doesn't seem to harmful in the grand scheme of things. i mean theyre definitely trying to ignore the historical reasons/ intentions. the concern is theyre gonna MLK the songs message --- we rich now but used to be slaves,we pushing whips now we used to be whipped,rockin chains when we used to be in 'em ...
