My Dad once lost his shit over this at one of the local 150 item seafood buffets here in town. Most embarrassing thing you'd ever wanna go through. To be fair, it was $35 plate and this was circa 2010.

We ended up staying and they left us alone, but they (my parents) fought the rest of the night over it. I went back to the hotel. We were gonna watch National Lampoon's Vacation. So much much that. We never did end up seeing it again. It was a tradition when I'd come visit home.

It amazes me how people I consider educated adults. Very successful educated adults can still end up behaving that way.

If it's all you can eat then legally it's all you can eat.

Not all 'American cheese' is like that. That one is labeled 'imitation' because it's not made with dairy products.

As you can see, these are both labeled 'pasteurized prepared cheese product'. Which basically means it started out as pure cheese before being mixed with other dairy things.

The Great Value one is awful.
