There's a connection (trust me, I know; I'm autistic and I've researched it. I know my condition), but autism is also a spectrum so some are more honest than others.

The thing about autistic people is that they tend to prioritize verbal communication rather than body language, myself included. I've learned to read the latter a bit but I still prefer to have the scales overwhelmingly tipped in favor of verbal communication. Like, if I have a good idea what someone's body language is saying (which tends to happen with people I'm close to), I'll take the risk and act accordingly; but if I'm even a little uncertain, I'll ask. I wish more people would stop assuming and using it as a basis for their entire communication system.
