most reviewer types like Chie because she's an unconventionally attractive girl with low self-esteem, and these people grew up on movies where the good guy is supposed to go for those girls instead of the stacies. most people mature and realize that's not true and a lot of low self-esteem girls are actually walking timebombs, these nerds didn't get the memo and continue to fantasize about rescuing a girl who doesn't realize she's insanely attractive for some reason. Persona fucks up this sort of person by having stacies that are genuinely sweet, caring people and make excellent girlfriends, which confuses the nerds who were told that all hot popular girls are evil.

Chie's character is not "low self-esteem", that's pretty much never shown anywhere in the actual storyline. MAYBE in her Social Link, I don't remember, but everyone has moments of low self-esteem. It does not mean it's a defining characteristic of her. Your entire post barely makes any sense.
