Yeah this has clearly been coming for a while regardless of the details. In the first one he even said its been as long as nine years that hes been thinking about it which lines up with what he said shortly after Ryan passed, that they had been talking about doing something else. I will say, if Jeff had left shortly after the relaunch or a few weeks before it, theres a good chance it would have killed the site. They really needed to go from one thing to the other straight away if they were going to survive. You can look at the way things went after the Nextlander split to see this, they took far too long to reboot and didnt have a clear vision. By contrast this has obviously worked, the sites the healthiest its been since before the pandemic. Not to justify anything that did or didnt happen to Jeff of course, just to say that the way the site shifted so rapidly after he left was very necessary.
