The Konami style of TMNT games are back thanks to Tribute Games and Dotemu! Currently averaging an 87 through 31 reviews so far, featuring 7 playable characters and a 6 player multiplayer mode Shredder's Revenge might be the new gold standard for side scrolling beat'em ups surpassing even the likes of Streets of Rage 4.

Digital Trends - 5/5
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge is a must-play for both TMNT and beat-em-up fans alike. Its a game that takes what worked in the past, but still finds space to innovate beyond its fan service and nostalgia play. If youve ever felt like retro revivals cant be much more than shallow nostalgia, Shredders Revenge will prove that theres still more than enough room for an old genre to grow.

Hey Poor Player - 5/5
Ive probably played hundreds of them over the years. However, precious few manage to do what Dotemu and Tribute Games have managed to do here. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge is nothing short of lightning in a bottle; one of those rare examples of a game that simply doesnt miss a beat from the moment it starts until the credits roll. Sure, you may come for the nostalgia and irresistible retro-inspired presentation, but its the rock-solid core mechanics that offer the perfect balance of depth and accessibility that will keep you coming back time and time again. If that sounds even remotely up your alley, then go, ninja, go, ninja, go and add this game to your collection. Its a true testament to Turtle Power.

Noisy Pixel - 9/10
The presentation feels like a Saturday morning cartoon, and you can tell it was made with great care and affection. For those looking to recapture the feeling of those 90s arcade cabinets, or who are simply looking for a fantastic beat em up, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge provides a radically fun time.

NintendoLife - 9/10
Two years in the making, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is the best Turtles beat 'em up ever made, and a faster, better-looking, and more entertaining affair than even Streets of Rage 4. It looks delicious, sounds superb, and rekindles childhood memories beyond all expectation, time-warping you back to 1987. Its combat system is so much fun to mine that you feel compelled to keep coming back to try new strategies, and with its awesome multiplayer the experience evolves again and again. Like any beat 'em up, it does get repetitive as you enter the last third, but that's more a fault of the concept than the game. Our only regret is that we didn't use anywhere near enough puns in this review, so let's close by saying Shredder's Revenge is an unprecedented shell-ebration.

Game Informer - 8.75/10
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge gives me what I wanted: a polished, raucously fun throwback that plays better than how I remember the original games. Turtles fans new and old will find plenty to love, but those possessing a nostalgia for this era of the franchise are in for the biggest treat. Invite some friends, order a pizza, and prepare to relive your childhood in the best possible way.

IGN - 8/10
Shredder's Revenge more than lives up to the legacy of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade games that inspired it. It's fun, yet simple gameplay, excellent coop for up to six players online, and charming pixel-based art style will surely have 90s kids riding the wave of nostalgia all the way to its end.

Gamespot - 8/10
Whether you're able to extract more playtime out of Shredder's Revenge or not will depend on how willing you are to replay levels with other characters and on higher difficulty levels. Despite its brevity, however, this is still a tremendous labor of love that lives up to the legacy of Turtles in Time and the brawlers that came before it. Combat is fast-paced and simple yet satisfying, while new features help modernize the action without tampering with its 16-bit essence. Co-op is overly chaotic and could use some indicators to help you keep track of where you are, but playing with friends is still a blast. Rehashing a classic retro game is always a tough ask, but Shredder's Revenge avoids the obvious pitfalls and successfully brings about a revival of everyone's favorite mutant turtles.
