we might have already had this conversation I guess, can't remember. but whatever 1 kg is at the moment, that should be named "gram". and whatever "gram" is at the moment should then be "milligram".

for whatever reason, just by arbitrary naming, we're stuck with a kilo unit as the one that you input for formulas and things, rather than the unmodified unit, and I think that mass is the only unit like that.
