I listened to the video with closed captions turned on and the result was very interesting. Here were the captions that were displayed with closed captions turned on:

Yanny.

The closed captions somehow interpreted the final Laurel as "Yanny" instead. The only thing that was ever said in that video was Laurel/Yanny, yet the closed captions somehow picked up on other words that were never said during the video.

That sounds like the video creator wrote subtitles for it as a joke.
