Asking since you mention the visuals specifically and they got a huge pass for the home release versus the TV airing, and then again for the movie versions. Especially the backgrounds. Every version is gorgeous, of course. I feel like I'm a lot more tolerable of Madoka ripoffs than most, but none of them leave an impact that stands the test of time at all. Yuki Yuna stands out as the exception, but other than that...Magical Girl Raising Project is probably the only one I think about at all?
