My post in the beaten games topic said the following:

A much needed improvement over the original game in the story and character development, however the game quickly becomes extremely easy and I do not think a single boss really challenged me after the first area. Which was a problem with the first game, too, and it doesn't help that they locked hard difficulty behind beating the game the first time. A shame because the battle system has a lot of neat ideas and good depth to it. On a positive note, the gameplay loop does a good job of fleshing out the character of every party member and support member in the game, so that you really do get attached to these characters after a while. I am not going to jump into NG+ yet to get the true ending, but I do plan on doing it later.

For what it's worth, Hard mode in NG+ was challenging for a few chapters, but it eventually just became the same mindless battles that Normal mode was. Since you begin NG+ with a lot of skills and items it might have been a good challenge to have it available from the start. Oh well. There's even more events in NG+ and you probably won't get all the characters to talent level 10 in a fresh run, so at the time I hadn't seen all of these! It's great to see a conclusion to all the individual storylines by seeing a final event in their dungeons.

There's just one annoying trophy, finding all 'locations' in the game. There's six in each dungeon and they play out an event scene when passed by, and they are permanently missable if you don't trigger them immediately. These include:
  • A location in a zone where they take you in a tutorial, but to trigger the event you have to go there again. I didn't in my first run.
  • A location in a zone near the entrance, but the map starts you out in the middle so you have to go back to it. I didn't go back to this one.
  • A location that doesn't trigger your first run, only after you go through half the dungeon and have no reason to revisit this place
  • A location past the boss in one stage. If you trigger the boss too early like the game tells you to, you miss it
  • A location that requires an item to access the area. Only one location is like this, and it isn't obvious
  • A location that only opens in the final chapter, in a zone where you have no reason to go back to. The guide I was using said it was "story-related" which it fucking isn't, so I missed it my first run.
  • Another location past the boss, but you have to fight the boss and then go all the way back to the boss room afterwards.
I started using the guide midway through the game but even I missed the few in the beginning and the one the guide screwed up with. Everything else was straightforward and easy to go through if you're planning on doing two play throughs for the true ending.

I did enjoy it though! Great game, and worth the 50 hours or so I played of it.
