You have to ship a lot of an item to hit gold, and it's just a completely stupid ridiculous idea to gold medal the majority of items. They don't do anything, they're just something you can see when looking at the shipping list. Like sure you could do most crops and their cooked dishes, and you could do a bunch of crafted stuff with simple materials, but no one is gold medaling all the rare fish or their cooked dishes, or the crafted items with the rarest drops in the game.
