that's because disney was taking care of all the town maintenance, they fixed the roads, they kept things looking great
but desantis decided to, uh, not let disney do that anymore because they said he was stupid for the dont say gay bill, which they are correct about, but that caused desantis to get petty and remove disneys special status, so now the state of florida has to take care of everything, everyone who lives there now have to pay so, so much more in taxes, while essentially giving disney a gigantic tax break.
oh, and florida has to pay disney several billion dollars because of a clause in the contract that states if their special status were to go away, florida would owe them several billion dollars
oh, but also desantis said that the people who live there wouldn't feel any effects of it, but that's obviously not true. so when pressed for information on what they're going to do to solve this issue, they released a press statement that was just "it's fine, trust me bro" and told people that the plan to fix this would come in a few weeks
so, to sum up
disney got a tax break, taxpayers got heavily fucked over, the state of florida got fucked over, they don't have a plan on how they're going to fix their fuckup in regards to the people who live there, but desantis gets to feel good because he "punished" disney for speaking out against his don't say gay bill
