The Pedestrian Warning System (if equipped) causes Model 3 to emit sound when driving below 24 km/h (15 mph) or while driving in reverse. Electric vehicles operate quietly and this sound helps to alert pedestrians of your oncoming vehicle. The sound, which activates whenever the setting is turned on (if equipped) and Model 3 is shifted out of Park, gets louder as speed increases.

Weird. I've had a model 3 for awhile now and had no clue about this. Sounds terrible. Not sure why anybody would turn it on. The car being so quiet is one of the major perks.
