I always wondered if got milk is on the up and up or is it a scam like pushing sugar and the food pyramid?

Yup. Milk sales were dwindling, and so the milk campaigns began. Not that milk is as bad as sugar.

Same thing goes with a lot of what is considered traditionally American. Bacon and orange juice with breakfast? Not a natural tradition, but an obviously successful ad campaign from the 50s, iirc.

Really, American breakfast as a whole exists as it does almost solely because of ad campaigns. Bacon, OJ, sugar cereals, milk, it being "the most important meal of the day"

full-on culture control, man
