It's supposed to be "mother of Christ", but the younger generation can't seem to comprehend English at all sometimes.

That's a completely different turn of phrase...

"mother of christ" is a longstanding expletive phrase used to express awe at something. Comparable to simply "Jesus Christ, that's a big monkey!"

"Brother/Sister in Christ" is an equally if not further longstanding expression of camaraderie.

The meme I've been seeing a lot lately is clearly using the later to juxtapose an expression of Christian camaraderie with calling out the decidedly non christlike behavior of the religious right.

Frankly, the fact that you A: don't recognize they are two different phrases in the first place, and B: are seemingly ignorant of the continuous evolution of the english language suggests to me that your knowledge the english language is only just adequate enough to pass a basic grammar check.
