So, reset the scale and weight yourself 2 or 3 times. If they are always the same, it probably isn't the scale. If they fluctuate, there is your issue.

There are days when I weight myself 3-4 times and get different weights each time. Most scales I'm familiar with you have to 'touch' the top, wait until it reads zero, then step on.
