I'm never really sympathetic to Celebrities but I really can't imagine having this court case paraded around the whole world like this, all because you're known for playng some good fictional characters in media.
It's being paraded around the whole world because Amber lied and ruined Johnny's career and reputation. Not because they're celebrities. Plenty of celebs don't have this happen to them. She decided to air their private lives publicly and lie about it. That's the reason why this is happening.

My general impression is that they've both been abusive to each other in various ways at various points, and all of this boils down to trying to prove who is worse, which just seems stupid to me. They're both well-off enough that they don't need to quibble over who's owed more in the divorce, just cut ties and move on like goddamn adults.
Again, Depp's trying to restore his reputation from the slander/libel she used against him. The chances of winning a defamation case are slim and this trial is costing him millions, supposedly. He's not doing this for the money.
Also, she admitted to hitting him and he had that sliced finger. Still waiting to hear WTF he ever did to her, physically. She clearly seems worse. And is the one w/ a prior history of domestic violence.

The fact that everyone cares about this and not about how the GOP controlled Supreme Court is about to oppress the shit out of women is just baffling. Like who the fuck cares about some celebrities getting a divorce?
We care about both, thanks.
And I care about this because, as Amber said, no one was gonna believe him b/c he's a man. Men are victims of domestic violence about as often as women (hell, most cases are mutually abusive and not just one abusing the other), but they're automatically assumed to be the perpetrator, both socially and by the actual law (Duluth Model).

Even when they're the victim calling for help:

It took Depp years, an utterly absurd amount of audio recordings, and millions of dollars just to possibly clear his name. Plenty of other innocent men w/ less means (and paranoia?) than him are falsely accused and are never vindicated.
