Started playing RE5. So far, it is definitely not as good as 4. Mainly because this was made during a time in the industry where online multiplayer was the hot new thing, so the game is modified to accommodate that at the expense of the single player experience. There's no pausing while opening your inventory, only nine inventory slots per character, you're permanently saddled with an AI partner that's just as vulnerable as you are, and if they have a healing item you wanna use, you have to have a free item slot, request the item, then use it. Plus, you have to pay to upgrade your partner's guns separately. Buying a stat boost for your gun does not automatically boost your partner's gun as well.

You know, I always got the impression that these clearly-meant-for-multiplayer games had a quiet disdain for anyone who dared besmirch them by playing solo.

At least the partner is a good shot, because this was also made during a time when brown, washed-out "realistic" environments were a hot industry fad, and a red laser sight really doesn't stand out too well against the sunlit African outdoors.
