Understandable, but the relish this guy showed in being able to shoot someone is just icky

I find it kind of disturbing that people here can't seem to distinguish between respecting the right for an individual to kill someone intruding on their property and literally enjoying the process of doing it and wishing you had injured the person further.

That kind of attitude is why the Second Amendment is always at-risk. Because it assumes that gun owners will be rational and responsible.

It may be "right" to kill someone who has invaded your property, I agree. But it's not justice to think that criminals deserve death simply because they're criminal. Dehumanizing criminals makes it easier to justify the "justice" you're exacting - but they ARE human. And while killing a home intruder is a rational thing to do especially since you don't know what they're up to and your safety matters, it's not something to celebrate.

To relish in passing ultimate judgment on a 16 year old (or saying you wish you had finished the job) is straight-up psychopath behavior. A 16 year old dying because he invaded someone's house is a tragedy both for the 16-year old and for the person defending his house. It's not a sport.

Did he pay the price for his actions? Yes.
Was the price fair? Probably not.
Could it have been safely avoided? Most likely not, too. The homeowner had to protect himself and his family and doesn't have the time to figure those things out.
