masterplum 03/27/22 8:00:03 PM #1:	Scarlet rot is one of the best top down game mechanics designs in any game I have played. It permeates all through Elden Ring. It is a central theme in gameplay, sidequest NPC's and bosses. Unlike something like poison in most games where it is entirely mechanical and nobody cares you are poisoned (Including your playable character that is poisoned sometimes) scarlet rot has story significance which makes it cool both mechanically and narratively. It wasn't the first role I decided to put in Elden Ring mafia, but it was near the top. Marth has died, he was Flame Cleanse Me - TOWN Cleansing Incantation The problem with poison in Souls games is it doesnt really matter. Slap on a regen Physick and it basically cancels it out. Scarlet rot on the other hand was much more scary, and that actually made it interesting. Scarlet rot areas of the game had tension, and nothing better than flame incantations to keep protected Every night you can choose to cast an incantation to heal a player (including yourself) of scarlet rot. You only have the FP to cast this incantation twice during the game.
