It is not the same regime despite what some misinformation and propaganda says - Ukraine is very much a democracy. I swear I'm not trying to be a dummy here, but if Russia had funded one side of that civil war and it had won, and then they got to hand pick the next guy to run the country, would you have any doubts about the election being "free and fair"?
