The difference between the base plan and the new one is about the cost of a season pass, so I suspect they'll keep doing this kind of stuff. Last year was covered by animal crossing dlc. This year is covered by Mario kart tracks. I'm sure they'll have some kind of DLC for Kirby or Pokemon by next year.
