Apparently shiny hunting in PLA is ridiculously easy. There's a shiny hunting method available from the beginning of the game that without a shiny charm or any other boosts still gives you 25 shiny rerolls. So right out the gate you could get lucky and find like a 1/150 chance shiny. But it is a random thing that can just happen and you have no control over it, so it probably won't happen. But outside of that shiny chance is still 1/4096.

Oh also when a shiny spawns, it plays a very distinct sound, so if you don't see it, but hear it, you should turn off autosave, and manually save your game, because if you knock it out accidentally or it runs away you can just reload and it will still be there.
